第一次看此系列文的朋友,請先移步到 Day 1 – 如何開始?進行方式、自我介紹實戰 哦!
今天的場景是「技術選型會議」。你要向團隊解釋為什麼選擇某個技術(例如前端框架、資料庫、雲端服務等),但常常卡在「不知道怎麼用英文說出比較優缺點」或「怕講太主觀」。
今日目標:學會用簡潔、有條理的英文說明技術選擇的理由與考量。
[Config]
- Day: Day28 – Tech Stack Discussion
- Scenario: Team meeting to discuss and justify a technical choice (e.g., framework, database, or cloud service). The goal is to explain pros, cons, and reasoning clearly.
記得把對話錄下來,自己聽一次,想想有哪裡不自然、哪裡需要調整。
可以參考以下結構來進行對話:
說明選擇理由
比較其他方案
提出優缺點
強調團隊考量
1) Per-turn Corrections
Turn 2: You said, “We’re gonna talk about the log storage system to store logs…” Corrected to: “We’re going to talk about the log storage system to store logs…”
Alternative: “We’ll discuss the log storage system for storing logs.”
Turn 4: You said, “The comms about MySQL is…” Corrected to: “I think one problem about MySQL is…”
Alternative: “One downside of MySQL is…”
Turn 6: You said, “We have to change how we monitor the logs.” Corrected to: “We would have to change how we monitor the logs.”
Alternative: “We’d need to adjust how we monitor the logs.”
2) Top 3 Patterns
“Gonna” vs. “Going to”: When explaining choices, use “going to” for clearer and more formal speech.
Article use: Remember to say “the” before specific nouns like “the log storage system.”
Verb form consistency: Keep verbs consistent, for example, “we have to” versus “we would have to.”
3) Phrase Pack
“We’re considering two options: MySQL or Elasticsearch.”
“One advantage of MySQL is that we already use it.”
“A downside is that Elasticsearch handles high write loads better.”
“If we switch later, we’ll need to adjust our monitoring.”
“We can definitely change plans, but it will take some effort.”
4) Intonation Tip
Try emphasizing the key option when you speak. For example: “We have two choices: MySQL or Elasticsearch.” Put a little stress on the names of the options.
5) Fluency & Pronunciation Notes
Overall pace was good and clear.
Keep sentences short and simple, just like you did.
Watch out for filler words like “um” or “uh”—try to reduce them a bit.
Your pronunciation is quite clear, just keep focusing on stressing the main words in each sentence.
6) Key Focus for Next Time
Goal 1: Practice reducing filler words.
Goal 2: Keep using clear, short sentences.
Drill: Spend 3 minutes doing a shadowing exercise with short phrases, focusing on eliminating “um” and “uh.”
